The Italian premium brand has issued an official announcement saying the new Ghibli sedan will make its official debut at the Shanghai Auto Show. They also released this teaser photo of the car hiding under blue covers, which is an unfortunate idea since we already have full press photos leaked a while back.
However, it's not a case of old news made new, as the Ghinli will debut together with a new 330 hp version of the Quattroporte that has been created especially for the Chinese market. This could either be a diesel, which is unlikely, or a naturally aspirated version of the V6.
In Europe and America, the new Quattroporte is available with a V8 delivering 530HP and a 410HP V6, both twin-turbos. By lobbing off the expensive turbo tech, the Italians could be trying to make a cheaper car that would appeal to Chinese consumers.
Getting back to the Ghibli, it's being described as Maserati's first mid-size four-door luxury sports saloon. The official world on the powertrains is that it will have two different turbocharged V6 petrol engines and a new 3.0 diesel.
