Maserati SUV Leaked Ahead of Frankfurt Debut?

We’ve got less than a week to go before the Frankfurt Motor Show, but not all the big names to debut there have been revealed yet. One of the most controversial and talk about cars to make a German debut is the upcoming Maserati SUV, a model we’ve been dying to get a look at for quite some time.
It seems that the model has been revealed, but not by the famous Italian brand, but by the Automotive News Europe Pocket Guide to the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show, according to Car and Driver. The internet is packed full with renderings, but this looks to be the real deal, as it follows the lines of the 2012 model year Maseratis.

The most recognizable features on the Maserati SUV are the wheels, which look like chunkier version of the ones the company currently uses. The grille is also familiar, but looks a bit more oval and the higher-placed lights give a new look. Classic lines for a this kind of vehicle, but the back end looks to have a slope that’s somewhere between the Cayenne and the BMW X6.

This is only a concept of what’s to come, but it’s believed to be powered by the same HEMI V8 engine as the Jeep Grand Cherokee it’s based on. In fact, the two are so closely related that production of the Maserati is likely to take place in Michigan.
