While Maserati’s SUV has now become a sure-thing, the name it is going to bare has not. The Kubang name tag with which it debuted will apparently be dropped in favor of something more ‘sporty’. However, with names like Cayenne (a type of pepper), or the EXP 9, other manufacturers aren’t doing particularly well in the naming department, either.
Possible names it may adopt? Well, it has been suggested that Cinqueporte, Levante, Milia or Ghibli are alternatives for the upcoming SUV, but won’t know for sure, unitl Maserati makes an official statement on the matter. The SUV will be built alongside the Jeep Grand Cherokee, with which it shares many of its underpinnings, yet it will be powered by a special engine, developed by Ferrari or Maserati themselves.

As is the case with most such pieces of news, we just have to wait and see if it turns out to be true, or not.
