Designed by Pietro Frua, the Maserati Mistral was introduced at the Torino Auto Show and produced from 1964 until 1970. The 2-seat grand tourer was built in only 950 units - 830 coupes and 120 convertibles.
As the numbers suggest, the Mistral went on to become a rare and expensive sportscar, especially in tip-top shape, that only a bunch of people can really afford. But wait, there’s a bit of hope for those that have to stick to affordable, common cars as well - miniature model manufacturer Minichamps has released a 1:18 scale replica of the Italian car in a gorgeous shade of green.
Although it’s not what we would call cheap (retail price is around €180 in Europe), this 1963 Mistral is built in only 999 pieces, which means it should become a rare piece pretty soon. The model is made from resin, which means there are no opening parts, but it’s beautifully rendered, perfect for any model display or desk.
