Maserati GranCabrio Sport Is Simply Glorious

The automotive world is so hungry for fast cars that just about anything will send it into a frenzy. Until they can come up with totally new cars, most true sportscar makers are taking the opportunity to play with the suspension, add a couple of extra horses and give their products the look they should have had from day 1!

BMW has its M packages, and more exclusive brands like Aston Martin like to add an ‘S’ at the end. Now, Maserati has joined this game and is bringing an improved version of its convertible to market, called the GranCabrio Sport (or GranTurismo Convertible Sport in some markets).

We have a brand spanking new video of the model, with plenty of Italian flair and charm to impress buyers. After watching just over two minutes of spine-tingling, emotional... press magic, we have come to a conclusion. The Maserati GranCabrio Sport might not be that impressive or important on paper, but it’s one gash darn beautiful drop-top.

What’s more, the glorious new noise that the Ferrari-souced 4.7-liter V8 is now capable of producing is what every car should sound like in our honest opinion. First spotted at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, the Maserati GranCabrio Sport one of the few four seater convertibles designed by Pininfarina.

With a little help from 450 horsepower, Maserati's Friction Reduction program and a ZF 6-speed automatic transmission with MC Auto Shift Software, the convertible hits 62 mph (0 to 100 Km/h) in 5.2 seconds and also of reaches a top speed of 177 mph (285 km/h).

A new Skyhook active suspension provides a sportier feel, and the GranCabrio Sport also offers grooved and drilled dual cast brake discs for that extra stopping power when you stomp on the middle peddle.

Aesthetically, the car differs from the regular convertible through a black grille with red accents, black look headlights, front corner splitters, redesigned side sills, and 20-inch Astro wheels.
