Maserati has already taken the first two steps in its reinvention, the only one remaining being the launch of an SUV. But simply making the Ghibli and the new Quattroporte is never going to be enough as long as rival companies from Germany offer such diversity.
We wondered what it would be like if the Ghibli went hot and became something more than its current self. An MC Stradale version has been rendered today by Theophilus Chin. At first glance, it's a very sexy car, a rival to any M5 or E63 AMG in terms of beefy wheels and carbon bits.
Currently, the Ghibli offers its best when fitted with a Ferrari-developed 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 worth 410 horses of power. This is good for 0 to 100 km/h in 5 seconds and a top speed of 285 km/h (177 mph).
By comparison, the real MC Stradale (a GranTurismo), takes 4.6 seconds to get to 100 km/h because it offers slightly more power, 450 hp from a well-tuned 4.7-liter V8.
