Martha Stewart Tries Uber For The First Time, is Totally Unimpressed

Television personality and chef Martha Stewart may be not be in tune with the times, but she’s still a powerful voice. So if she says her first experience with Uber sucks and she does so on social media, Uber is quick to apologize for it.

The other day, Stewart was over at NBC to film a segment for The Today Show and, after a spot of shopping on Fifth Avenue, she decided to go the millennial way and hail an Uber. Hail she did, but the experience was not of the kind she expected.

She made sure to complain about it on social media, posting a series of photos to her Instagram, together with her account of the lame experience. Apparently, being famous is no guarantee that you get a good, clean car and a nice driver on Uber, as Martha learned. Her first car canceled the ride, so a second one arrived.

Everything about it was sub-par, according to Martha. “My very first Uber! I ordered the most expensive version to pick me up on Fifth Avenue and 57th street in front of Tiffany's The first Uber did not show up The second Uber came ten minutes later and parked halfway down 57 th street where I could not see the license plate,” she writes.

“Then we were facing east when I had to go west and south Took twenty minutes to face south west Etc etc it only took a bit more than one hour On top of it all the car was a mess inside and out!!!!!!!! And I want Uber to succeed! I have been a fan of the concept since day one!!!!!”

To prove that the car really was a mess, Martha included photos of the interior, with her $900 Manolo Blahniks in plain view. Even for someone who scoffs at the idea of paying so much for footwear, the car is a mess.

Again, because Martha is Martha, Uber was quick to respond, apologizing for the incident. “We were so disappointed to hear about Martha's negative experience this morning – especially on her first trip. We have been in touch with Martha and her team, as we know every ride counts,” a statement from the company says.

As regards the goal of being in touch with Stewart, Uber doesn’t offer more details.
