Marquez Back to Winning at Sachsenring ahead of the Summer Break

The first half of the 2015 MotoGP season is over, and Marc Marquez is heading for the summer break adding a new victory to his roster. The young Spaniard won the Sachsenring race without any of the incidents he kind of gotten us used to lately.

Jorge Lorenzo had an amazing start from third on the grid, passing both Pedrosa and Marquez on the outside in Turn 1, and nailing the lead by Turn 2. However, Marquez' pace proved to be hard to fight, and he passed Lorenzo, starting to open a gap nobody was then able to reduce enough to threaten his position.

Behind Marquez, Sachsenring saw a fierce three-way battle involving Valentino Rossi and Dani Pedrosa. Some ten laps before the finish, Pedrosa managed to get past both Movistar Yamaha machines and finished the German GP in second, followed by Rossi. This is 205th career podium.

Jorge Lorenzo settled for the fourth place, followed by Andrea Iannone and a very fast Bradley Smith. Seventh past the finish line was Cal Crutchlow who rode more determined and carefully and avoided crashing. The top ten was completed by Pol Espargaro, Danilo Petrucci and Aleix Espargaro.

Redding went down in the opening lap, four more riders did not finish

Sachsenring wasn't the best round for Scott Redding, as the Brit crashed out of the race in the opening lap. Four more riders failed to cross the finish line, including Claudio Corti substituting for injured Stefan Bradl, Hiroshi Aoyama substituting for Karel Abraham (also injured), Mike di Meglio and Ducati's Andrea Dovizioso. None of them was reported to have sustained injuries.

Rossi retains the lead in the world standing with 179 points, having extended a bit the gap from Lorenzo to 13 points. Halfway in the 2015 season Iannone is still third with 118 points, a great Ducati presence back at the top of the charts. However, Marquez is fourth, but there are only four between him and Iannone, and this is a difference that's so small that it's almost negligible.

Andrea Dovizioso is fifth, with 87 points, on par with Bradley Smith and 20 ahead of Dani Pedrosa, who is back in a great form and looking forward to recovering as many points as possible to make up for the three missed rounds.

Action resumes on August 9th at the Brickyard in Indianapolis, on US grounds.
