Mark Wahlberg is mixing business with pleasure and doing good, as he’s hitting the promo trail for his brand new movie, “Instant Family.”
While on The Ellen Show to talk about the flick, he brought gifts to the other guests, the Zezulka family, whose story inspired the movie. Paige and Daniel Zezulka are also known as the “viral adoption family” after they went public with their heartwarming story: they had trained to be foster parents and ended up adopting all 3 kids they took in.
You can see Mark’s full appearance in the video at the bottom of the page. He opened by presenting the couple with a check for $25,000 on behalf of the producers and the cast of the film, and then invited them to help him shoot another commercial for his Chevrolet dealership in Columbus, Ohio.
Ellen prefaced the invitation by reminding audiences that she had helped Mark shoot a commercial for it some while back, and that it had been responsible for a considerable spike in sales. She wanted the Zezulkas to help the actor sell more cars, she said.
After the mock commercial was shot, Ellen asked the couple and their daughter if they had liked the car – a brand new 2019 Chevrolet Trax. Mark chimed in to say that this was his gift to them, a car they could use instead of the old one they had arrived at the studio in.
While this is a beautiful gesture, it works wonderfully as cross-promotion as well. Not only is Wahlberg drawing attention to the movie he’s starring in, but also to his Chevrolet dealership, which he opened in July this year and is said to be thriving because of his name on the door. At the end of the day, the new Trax is an unexpected, most amazing gift for the Zezulkas, but a drop in the bucket for Wahlberg.
