Mark LaNeve Leaves GM, Susan Docherty to Replace Him

General Motors' CEO, Fritz Henderson, announced yesterday the departure of the manufacturer's vice president for US sales, Mark LaNeve. The vice president will leave the manufacturer starting October 15 and will move to an unnamed company, from the non-automotive sector.

"It's with very mixed emotions I confirm that Mark LaNeve has elected to leave General Motors on October 15 to pursue another opportunity with a non-automotive company. Mark has contributed significantly to GM in several key positions, including transforming the Cadillac brand and leading the vehicle sales, service and marketing organization during one of the most challenging periods in GM's history," Henderson said in a release announcing the departure.

"I'd like to thank Mark for his dedication and wish him and his family well as he moves to a key position at another company. A replacement for
Mark will be named at a later date. In the interim, Jim Bunnell, general manager, U.S. sales, and his team will continue to follow through with GM's dealer network plans.
"

Henderson however found a replacement for Jim Bunnell faster than many expected. North American sales will be handed over to Susan Docherty, currently general manager of Buick-GMC. She will take office one day after LaNeve will leave.

I'd be very nervous about putting someone into the sales function who didn't understand how it worked at the time we're going through a dealer restructuring like we're doing," Henderson was quoted as saying by Autonews, adding Docherty is very capable to fill in the post.
