Maria Sharapova Test Drives Porsche Cayenne GTS, Says She Considers Buying One

The first thing we do when we see a gorgeous blonde posing in her upmost glory next to one of our favorites luxury SUVs is... well, stare at it. A couple of moments later, however, we start questioning it, since we’ve been spending enough time on the autoevolution “planet” to know different, this is not just a Kardashian-type of selfie, this means something.

Before we add anything more, we need to take a step back and remember our own experience with the Porsche Cayenne GTS, back in 2013. The test is still quite relevant, since the facelift the model’s second generation received in 2014 implies minor changes to its exterior. We found it as the rightful gap-filler slotted in between the naturally aspirated Cayenne S and the Turbo model.

Porsche ads emotion to what is after all the most powerful non-turbo member of the Cayenne family. Like most of the petrolheads that admire the turbo look of a car, we too enjoyed the front apron, hood, front and rear lights and even the lack of air intakes. Then there are the specifics, things such as the dark tailgate and new exhaust tip ornaments. Inside, the SUV’s cabin does offer a few special touches, all of which aim to bring a sporty appearance. The story could be a lot longer, but we might have overwhelmed ourselves here a little so it’s time to stop.

Let us get back to the gorgeous Russian blonde, who by the way loves tennis so much she’s willing to delay having children until “I’m no longer playing and I can really dedicate time.” The holder of 34 titles including five Grand Slams, Sharapova said she is quite happy with investing everything she has in the sport that made her famous.

"In between practices, I'm testing out some Porsche SUV's, thinking it might be my new investment. Tried to take a picture in the air but the 'photographer' got me on the way down...aiii!" Sharapova quoted next to the picture she put on her Facebook account.

So, we were saying that nothing is random, especially when it comes to a 27-year old tennis champion that is also one of Porsche’s biggest brand ambassadors. Did the Cayenne GTS need any help to sell even better than it’s already? We don’t think so, but the Germans still had Sharapova promoting it online.

Like the car, like the girl, like the sport, they’re all worth it.
