Marchionne Has the Knowhow to Save Chrysler, Autoevolution Poll Reveals

After finding out about your preferences when it comes to Hummer and the Chinese takeover, we decided last week to go to Chrysler land where Prince Sergio Marchionne has arrived from its far away Italian kingdom of Fiat.

Our dilemma was this: “Sergio Marchionne returned Fiat to profitability in 2006 as company CEO. Will he be able to do the same for Chrysler?”

Well, we have good news for Prince Marchionne as most of you believe he can save Chrysler from their very own evil plans of not adapting to the market demand. Fifty-two percent of the poll's respondents chose the “Yes, Marchionne has the know-how to turn the company around” option.

With a considerably smaller percentage, 25%, “No, Chrysler will never see profit ever again regardless of its CEO” was the second most popular option in the list.”

Last but certainly not least, an “alarming” 21 percent of the respondents chose the more stereotypical option of the poll, namely “Hell no, they'll all eat pizza and spaghetti all day long and do nothing for Chrysler.”

For those of you who have no idea what we're talking about, Sergio Marchionne was appointed Chief Executive Office of Chrysler Group LLC on June 11. The newly-formed entity which went through bankruptcy will rely on four core brands, Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and Mopar. Jim Press, who served as Vice Chairman and President, will work as Deputy CEO and Special Advisor and will report straight to Marchionne.

"I personally feel privileged to have the opportunity to lead the new Chrysler and to work with senior management to build this company and our great brands into all we know they can and should be," said Sergio Marchionne in his speech.

If you are a poll fan and want to express your opinion in any possible matter, be sure to check out our homepage (left side, after a bit of scrolling down) for the latest debate. This week we go to Europe where the nominees of the European Car of the Year have been announced. Who do you you think it's going to win?
