Marc Marquez Sneaks a Nilox Camera into a GoPro Official Photo in Pure Bad Taste

Marc Marquez literally snuck a Nilox action camera (or an object that looks like one) on the podium at Sachsenring. He managed to take it out of his leathers and when Valentino Rossi used an official GoPro camera to take a selfie with the other two guys on the podium, he held it in such a way that the Nilox logo would appear clearly visible in the official photo.

The final version of the picture was edited, and Marquez appears to only hold a small white object in his hand. Still gpone has gotten their hands on more photos that show the Nilox logo on what appears to be an action camera without its transparent enclosure.

Nilox is one of GoPro's rivals and such a move is a no-no

Now, if you didn't know already, being a title sponsor for a MotoGP round is a thing that costs a lot. Despite this, there are many companies that dream of seeing their banners and logos all over the place, bikes, flags that are used during a GP weekend. Oh, and the official name was the GoPro Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland...

This is major exposure for both those present at the track and the ones that watch the races on TV or online. Plus, the hundreds of photos that are taken during the racing weekend are also going to circle the web and printed magazines and extend the exposure even more.

Such exposure is a major publicity feat and it was never cheap. So that's why such situations demand respect, at least for the investment a company makes for the event.

Yes, the web is full of trolling and photobombing, but let me have one things straight. Making a funny face in your friend's photo is one thing. Premeditately sneaking a camera (or even a logo) of a rival company into a photo everyone knows it has chances to become viral is just an example of bad taste.

Despite all the smiles and "it was only a joke" excuses, I doubt that the GoPro guys were happy to see all this. It would have been funny if someone photoshopped a GoPro in Marquez' hand...

Later edit: a VR46 official photo was just published on Facebook at it also shows Marquez holding a plain white object, with no logo. We also watched again the official Sachsenring podium footage on motogp.com and the logo was there, so it's not a hoax.

Bad taste move...
