Marc Marquez Announces the Finalists of His Catalunya Helmet Design Contest

Remember the competition launched by Marc Marquez in early March? The young champion announced he was looking for the best independent design for the helmet he would wear in the Catalunya round. Over 500 entries have been posted, according to Marquez, and choosing from them was a hard task.

Such a job would be hard and time-consuming for the trained eye of a helmet designer or graphic artist, so you can figure out for yourselves that Marc has put a lot of effort into this. From the designs that caught his attention at first sight to revisiting multiple others, 22 models have reached the final stage of the contest.

22 finalists instead of 20

Initially, this stage of the contest was supposed to come up with 20 finalists, but it looks like Marquez could not decide for so few designs. Therefore, 22 finalists have been chosen, and their names are shown in one of the photos after the jump. If you entered this competition and see your name there, well, congrats!

The winner will receive two paddock passes for the Catalunya round (race day is 14th of June), and a helmet. Most likely, he or she will also meet Marc Marquez, and maybe get the helmet signed, transforming it into a highly prized collector's item.

We saw an Anna Torres in the finalists' list and remembered Anna Vives, the girl suffering from Down syndrome who designed Jorge Lorenzo's helmet in 2013. Lorenzo won at Barcelona that year, and the helmet fetched good money in a charitable auction.

Will we see history repeating with Marquez' lid? Stay tuned!
