Coma missed the 2013 Dakar because of injuries which made it impossible for the Spaniard to endure the tough South American rally and was replaced with American Rider Kurt Caselli. Former team mate with Cyril Despres (now riding a Yamaha), Coma is a multiple Dakar winner himself.

The Sardinia Rally spanned across 5 stages and Marc Coma led the way in the end with just over 7 minutes ahead of Portuguese Pulo Goncalves and fellow-countryman Joan Pedrero. Coma's former KTM team mate Despres finished in the 4th position. Despite finishing the last stage in position 5, Coma's prior margin was enough to keep him in the lead.

The next leg of the World Cross-Country competition brings Coma to Argentina, at the Desafio Ruta 40, June 15-22. Good to see him fully recovered and claiming victories: this means the 2014 Dakar battle will be awesome!
