Almost two months after the unveiling of the GR Supra with a manual transmission option, Toyota has started accepting orders for it in the United Kingdom.
Mated solely to the 335 hp (340 ps / 250 kW) of torque 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine, the six-speed manual gearbox is available on the GR Supra, GR Supra Pro, and GR Supra Special Edition in the United Kingdom. Pricing starts at £53,495 (equal to $65,535) for the base model, and £55,995 ($68,598) for the mid-range and top-spec grades, respectively.
The stick shift option features a performance-oriented software that optimizes the torque upon pushing the clutch until releasing it, which can be overridden in the Sport driving mode. It has a shortened final drive ratio, too, from 3:15 in the automatic to 3:46 in the manual, and the car sports adapted traction and stability controls, optimized for the three-pedal ‘box, and anti-roll system.
Customers who’d rather let the gearshifting to the transmission can order the eight-speed automatic gearbox. For the new model year, this is limited to the entry-level Supra, which uses the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, and the most expensive of them all, the GR Supra Pro. Pricing for these versions kicks off at £49,495 ($60,635) and £57,495 ($70,435), respectively, in the UK.
In order to celebrate the local launch of the GR Supra equipped with a manual transmission, Toyota has brought a copy to the Goodwood Festival of Speed, which has started today, June 23. The model is in the Special Edition specification, with a matte white paint finish, over a tan leather interior, with black accents. To ease the buying process and make a quick buck, the automaker’s ambassadors are present at the event to answer questions and guide interested parties through the sales process on the spot. The model is available for online buying, too, and will launch at local dealers on June 27.
