What do the Dodge Challenger and the Porsche 911 have in common? Well, not too much, but if we factor in the big picture instead of zooming in on each go-fast machine's particularity, we notice that both lineups are extremely complex. Heck, somebody outside the Mopar or the Zuffenhausen realm might find it difficult to understand why a two-door car needs that many derivatives. Of course, this also means that cannibalization-style races can be extremely fun.
And we've brought along a recent example of this, one that involves a battle between a Dodge Challenger Hellcat with a manual tranny and a Dodge Challenger Demon.
Fortunately, the drivers of the two decided to take things to the drag strip, thus keeping the adventure on the safe side and benefiting from the prepped surface of the track.
As far as we know, both the Hellcat and the Demon came in factory stock form, which means we're looking at 717 ponies vs. 840 horses.
Of course, such races can also be influenced by the reaction times - while the drag strip equipment doesn't take this factor into account (the clock only starts ticking when the car takes off), you can't deny what your eyes tell you.
Even so, the aficionado behind the wheel of these muscle cars both proved their know their way around the Christmas Tree.
