Manual Gearbox Lamborghini Huracan Is a World First, Shifter Is Gated

Have you ever heard of the #savethemanuals movement? If you haven't (thank heavens you escaped from under that rock), you'll certainly remember it after this tale, simply because we're talking about the first stick shift Lamborghini Huracan in the world.

It's no secret that the Huracan is the most usable vehicle in the entire history of Sant'Agata Bolognese (which is determining people to do all sorts of crazy things with it, such as this project), but we also lost a few toys when the switch from the Gallardo was made, with the clutch pedal being the most important - this obviously involves the entire performance car market and you can blame customers who (mainly) ordered the paddle setup for it.

Well, cog swappers will soon be given what they dream of, as an US label aptly named B Is For Build has installed a six-speed manual on Lambo's V10 machine.

And while the recipe isn't new (recent examples include the 991.1 Porsche 911 GT3 RS and the 2020 Toyota Supra), the method of the madness is obviously tailored to the Italian exotic, albeit with a bit of German parts bin play - it's not just Lamborghini that's benefiting from the VW Group umbrella, as you'll see below.

The Graziano transaxle comes from an Audi R8 (it's interesting to see how small the difference between the automated manual and the standard manual is, by the way) and the same goes for the rest of the setup.

Drilling into the Raging Bull was just one of the steps required to place that shifter between the seats and while the gear heads (see whay I did here?) did make sure the R8's gated shifter is here, they're currently willing to cover it up.

The Internet, myself included, strongly disagrees, as it can be seen in the comments section of the build video (the top comm so far comes from an use who offered to help with the fabrication work, by the way). Oh, and the shifter boot comes from an Audi S4, with this looking just as unfit as the leather around it, so here's to hoping we get a proper know and a visible gate by the end of the project.

With great power comes great responsibility - handling that shifter means you get to control 1,500 hp at the wheels, which come from the LS swap of the car, with the V8 obviously working with a pair of turbos, but there aren't hidden in the engine compartment, so there's no rense for this Lambo to go down the rear bumper removal path. Instead, it looks like they'll be protruding throug the engine cover (yay!).

And while a blower would've kept the machine closer to its original spririt, from the soundtrack to the throttle response, but the wacky crew is going for big power.

Carbon fiber? No, simple carbon fiber is for peasants. This Lambo has the carbon body kit of a Huracan Super Trofeo racecar (this reminds me of how Super Trofeo Stradale owners love to bring their Gallardos closer to the motorsport realm: example 1, example 2).

And no, this Bull(y) hasn't reached its final form yet and the rendering below should bring an approximation of the supercar's final look.

The pixel work, done by digital artist Khyzyl Saleem (here are some some of his other visual shenanigans), should keep us busy until November 5. You know, the first day of the 2019 SEMA show, which is when this sweet machine should make its public debut.

@the_kyza is helping us visualize the goal, now we just need to work around the clock over the next 2.5 months the and make it a reality. It’s insane how much motivation a picture can give you. We will be going with the white, in the end mostly because a layer of carbon tends to dull out the body lines, and that’s the last thing i’d want to do with a lamborghini like this. #Repost @the_kyza ・・・ Yeah Chris, I'd go with the White x Carbon mix too. @bisforbuild 😊😇 - - (Temporarily sat on @brixtonforged BB01s designed by @button_built ) - - #sema #sema2019 #khyzylsaleem #kyza #art #design #3d #bisforbuild #lto #livetooffend #brixtonforged #bb01s
