Mansory S63 AMG Gets Sinister Looks and 1000 HP

We could have started this story by telling you this is Darth Vader's new Mercedes S-Class. But we know better than that, so instead we're going to share the fact about this freak of nature.

The stock version of the S63 AMG is already one of the most impressive cars on the planet, certainly a segment leader. But specialist tuners Mansory have sprinkled the same sort of magic they reserve for Lamborghinis and built a monster Merc.

Under the hood, the M1000 package does what it says on the box, raising the output of the 5.5-liter turbo engine to 1,000 hp and 1,400 Nm (1,032 lb-ft) of torque. Ferraris had better watch out, because this S63 can now get from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds and reaches an electronically limited top speed of 300 km/h (186 mph).

If that much power worries you, fret not. There's also a "softer version" that makes 800 hp and 1,200 Nm (885 lb-ft) of torque. It's a little slower, as it takes 3.6 seconds to reach the benchmark speed, but that's still 0.4 seconds faster than stock.

As far as the looks are concerned, this car is all about carbon fiber accents and black paint. The new body kit includes a front spoiler, side skirts and a new rear bumper with an integrated diffuser and some killer pipes. The hood is new, as are the mirror caps. 22-inch wheels have been fitted – very glossy and kitted out with Vredestein sticky tires.

We're only used to seeing Ferraris and Lamborghinis from Mansory, so maybe that's why the Mansory M1000 seems a bit restrained. Check out the gallery below, compare that with the Mansory La Revoluzione and tell us what you think.

Our say: This project is part engine tuning and part owner ego stroking. Just think what would have happened if they left the design the same and just tuned the engine to 1000 horsepower. We bet many unsuspecting Lamborghini owners would lose faith in their cars after a quick race.
