Mansell Praises Perfect Button

Former Formula One champion Nigel Mansell spoke very appreciative of current leader of the overall classification Jenson Button, saying that there are little chances of him losing this year's title given his incredible form. Talking to British magazine AUTOSPORT, Mansell characterized Button as being “the best in the business”, while also stressing the fact that the 29-year old Brit benefits from some extraordinary package from his team.

Mansell argued only reliability problems could cause his fellow countryman to miss out on this year's title, but insisted he doesn't think much about this theory, given the outstanding BGP 001. In addition, the fact that Button took a long time to F1 stardom – and gaining plenty of experience in the process – will only help him in the following stages of the 2009 season, believes Mansell.

It's his championship, there is no way that anybody can come back at him. The only thing that can go wrong now is they have a really bad run of reliability, but I don't see that happening. He is the best in the business now and that car looks just amazing,” Mansell was quoted as saying by the aforementioned publication.

I mean the balance of that car... I was watching it at Monaco and I said to my son Greg, 'there are some awesome cars I have driven in the past, but I think that is one that goes into the history books as straight-out-of-the-box magical.'”

The great thing is that he had served a very long apprenticeship and now it's coming together,” added the winner of the 1987 British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

Button is currently solitary leader of the F1 championship, holding a 26-point lead to teammate Rubens Barrichello. If he'll go on to win this weekend's British GP, Button will set a new winning record in F1, as he has so far clinched 6 of the first 7 GP this year.
