Junk food tastes better when it’s hot or warm, we can all agree on that. So, we can all understand why one driver from Sheffield, UK, was desperate to get home before his takeaway got cold.
Of course, that’s not to say speeding is ok. The driver decided to disregard all speed restrictions on his way home, just so he could enjoy his McDonald's meal while it still had some resemblance of good taste.
To his bad luck, there were officers out on the road that night, in unmarked vehicles, Fox News reports, citing news agency SWNS. As the driver flew past one such vehicle, the cops inside engaged in a pursuit and eventually had him pull over. To their surprise, the driver was also uninsured, so his vehicle, a dark-colored Volkswagen Golf, was seized.
“It's been a positive night shift on the beat,” a statement from Sheffield Police says. “This vehicle's driver decided to overtake our officers in an unmarked vehicle at excessive speeds, putting everyone's life at risk. All because he didn’t want his McDonald's to go cold.”
The report doesn’t mention how fast the driver was going, but the mere fact that officers seized the vehicle must mean his offense was quite serious.
“It just so happened this vehicle wasn't insured either. It's safe to say the driver wasn't ‘lovin it’,” adds the same statement. “Our version of a takeaway was arranged and the driver waved goodbye to his vehicle.”
So not only did the driver end up without a car and is now facing a hefty fine for the two offenses, but he probably also didn’t make it home in time and his McD’s got cold. There’s a lesson in here, kids: junk food is not a good excuse for speeding. There is no such thing as a “good” excuse for speeding.
Also, junk food is bad for you.
