Instant karma hit a guy from Kennewick, Washington real bad over the weekend, when his pickup truck was stolen from a mostly-empty parking lot while he was out robbing a store across the street.
You know what they say, do not do onto others what you wouldn’t like to have done to you. William Kelley will remember that saying from now on, after his car was taken as he was on a robbing spree, KEPR TV reports.
According to the police, a call came about a stolen vehicle on Sunday: Kelley told dispatch that he had parked his red 1992 Chevrolet pickup and left the keys on the seat. Someone walked by, saw the keys and got an idea, so they ended up leaving at the wheel of the vehicle.
What Kelley conveniently forgot to mention was the reason for which he’d left the keys inside the car: he needed to be able to make a quick escape because he was out robbing a store across the street. So, while he was there committing a crime, someone else committed another crime and left him without his car, aka getaway vehicle.
“Kelley was booked in the Benton County jail on a warrant and a new burglary charge,” the report says. As of the time of writing, police are yet to track down the dude who stole the Chevy, so anyone with information is asked to contact the Kennewick Police.
The video available at the bottom of the page captured the moment the thief stole the truck. You can see a man cycling around the parked cars, almost going out of the frame and then returning to the Chevy. He props the bike against a fence and simply hops inside the pickup and drives off, just as Kelley is approaching it.
Even though he’s carrying something, presumably the stuff he stole from the store, he still tries to run after the thief. To no avail, sadly.
