Manor Confirm Di Grassi Would Be Perfect for 2010

Manor Grand Prix is likely to name Lucas di Grassi their second driver for their inaugural campaign in the Formula One Championship, as confirmed by the team's very boss John Booth. After securing the services of German driver Timo Glock for the 2010 season, the British official admitted that Di Grassi would be his first choice for the German's teammate.

Lucas would be great for a number of reasons. He is an ex-Manor driver anyway. He won here in Macau for us. It would be great for us to have Lucas, and he has F1 testing experience as well in F1. Somebody like Lucas would be perfect,” said Booth according to Autosport, while visiting the F3 caravan during the last weekend's Macau Grand Prix.

In addition, Booth thanked Glock publicly for not holding too much during their negotiations earlier this year, as he revealed the German did not take long to accept the new challenge. The team clearly sees him as the leading driver for the new season, and signing an experienced German driver for 2010 is seen like the perfect start for Manor.

It is massive for us. Massive. Throughout the seat fitting, which we are doing at the moment, his knowledge even now is helping us plan for the first test.”

The wonderful thing about Timo was that he came over to meet everybody and it was not hours and hours of negotiation and selling to him what we could do. He just bought into the concept straightaway - and made his decision almost immediately,” added Booth.

With the drivers lineup discussion over, Booth admitted that nothing has been finalized in terms of title sponsors for the 2010 season, but announced that the shakedown of their 2010 challenger is to take place on January 29.
