Things started to move in the police investigation of the already famous "Bikers vs Range Rover" incident which took place past Sunday in Manhattan. NYPD sources quoted by CBS report of police arresting Christopher Cruz, 28, facing charges for reckless endangerment, reckless driving, endangering the welfare of a child and menacing.
A second biker involved in the attack on Alexian Lien, the driver of the Range Rover, Allen Edwards, 42, was also arrested after presenting himself at a Police station. He was charged with reckless endangerment, criminal mischief and menacing.
Meanwhile, one of the riders ran over by the Range Rover is in hospital in critical condition, with a broken spine and multiple internal injuries to his heart, lungs and ribs. Father of two children ages 15 and 9, Mieses is now in a medically induced coma and under breathing support.
Mieses was trying to help the a fallen rider, apparently the one who brake-checked Lien in the first place and who got rear-ended by the SUV. As other riders attacked the car and Lien tried to escape the assault, Mieses was accidentally caught under the SUV.
Same sources say Lien was not charged with anything yet, but NYPD Commissioner Kelly said that he might be charged, too.
It looks like the riders were planning to attend an unauthorized rally, trying to get to Times Square. A similar stunt event was organized last year, and caused multiple complains from citizens who signaled reckless driving and other dangerous behaviors.
