Manager Uncertain of Liuzzi's F1 Future

Now that the rumors regarding the potential ousting of Vitantonio Liuzzi from Force India have intensified, it seems that not even the Italian's management is certain of his spot on the 2011 entry list. According to Liuzzi's manager Peter Collins, negotiations with Force India are still ongoing regarding his client's future.

Shortly after the New Year's Eve, Swiss newspaper Blick issued a report according to which Paul di Resta will join Adrian Sutil in Force India's 2011 lineup. Earlier this week, team owner Vijay Mallya revealed that an imminent announcement on this topic is pending only “some legal loose ends.”

Liuzzi denied the allegations, saying that he has a contract with the Silverstone based team until the end of 2011 and that “Force India hasn't informed me about any change and, for me, only the words of the team count. (...) If they should decide to take other routes, they know what they are facing.

However, talking to the BBC recently, his manager showed signs of doubt when talking about the future of his client in F1.

Tonio will be in F1 this year. Will he be racing? I don't know,” he said. “I've no (further) comment to make at this stage and it would be wrong for me to do so. The position has been very clear for some time and it is best to let the team make any announcement,” he concluded.

Under the driving scheme envisioned by Blick a couple of weeks back, Liuzzi would not even make the third/reserve driver role at Silverstone, as that position would be handed to ousted Williams rookie Nico Hulkenberg. This whole saga is about to find its answer soon enough, as Mallya confirmed an announcement will be made in the next few days.
