Justice has finally been served in the case of Andy Lee House, the man who crashed a Bugatti Veyron into a lake back in 2009, aiming to make a fortune by scamming his insurance company. The guy has now been sentenced to a year and a day in prison.
The sentence was released earlier this week, with House having pleaded guilty to false insurance claim accusations last year. Once he’s released, the man will be supervised for a three-year period, as KTRE writes.

Given the fact that Andy Lee House faced twenty years behind bars, we can’t quite say he’s paying dearly for his attempt to enrich his bank account - House, who owns an exotics vehicle salvage company, had acquired the Veyron for $1 million back in October 2009 and destroyed it one month later.

The man swerved off the road, driving straight into Gulf Bay, in the proximity of La Marque, Texas. His ill intentions were visible from the early stages of the case, since House initially claimed he was distracted by a low-flying pelican, while he subsequently said he was aiming to grab his phone when the incident took place.

House not only drove the hypercar into the salty water lake but he also left the engine running, with hydrolocking (more on this type of damage here) destroying the W16 heart of the Veyron.

His “financial engineering” has also backfired in terms of the budget, since the man has to pay the insurance company back its $600,000 settlement.

A brief look into the man’s history reveals the guy’s company had also dealt with the Ferrari Enzo comedian Eddie Griffin crashed back in 2007.

As those of you who have been following the story know, it was the video below, shot from a passing car, that helped investigators settle the matter. And no, dude, that’s not a Lambo.
