Man U's Carlos Tevez Had His Car Seized

What's wrong with Manchester United players these days? It has been only a month since Cristiano Ronaldo totaled his £200,000 Ferrari near Manchester Airport and now another player from the same team sees his vehicle seized by the police after it was found he did not have a full UK driving license.

According to The Daily Mail, Tevez was pulled over by traffic officers on M60 near Stretford in Manchester, on the suspicion the car's windows were too dark. Because the Manchester United footballer didn't have a valid driving license, the traffic officers decided to seize his £140,000 Bentley Continental. More importantly, the suspicion of the officers regarding the windows was confirmed by the tests at the roadside which clearly showed that the tint was illegal.

'They were tested and found to be too dark so a prohibition notice was issued to the driver. When asked to provide his documentation, it was discovered the driver did not have a full UK driving license and was advised to arrange removal of the car. As he could not arrange this, the car was removed under Section 165 of Road Traffic Act 1988,” a Greater Manchester Police spokesman reported.

Apparently, driving without a UK valid permit is very common among foreign footballers playing in the Premier League.

“We have seen an increasing rise in the number of foreign players playing Premier League football,” explained motoring lawyer Nick Freeman, better-know as “Mr Loophole” for helping celebs avoid driving convictions. 'They reside full-time in the UK and mistakenly believe - or are advised - that they are entitled to drive legally under their foreign driving licenses,” he added.

To avoid incidents like this, Mr Loophole advises foreign footballers to take a driving test and have a valid UK driving license.

And since we're speaking about Manchester United footballers, we remind you that Cristiano Ronaldo was involved in other illegal driving situations apart from the crash he had last month. Just like Tevez, he was was stopped by police and fined for having blacked-out windows on his £140,000 Bentley convertible, in 2007. In addition, Ronaldo was stopped by police again on Thursday and given 'advice' by police who thought he was speeding but did not manage to register his actual speed.
