Man Riding a Cooler Gets Reported for Driving Offenses, Has His Esky Impounded

You know how some companies out there are that good at making their products that the brand’s name is later used by customers for similar crops manufactured by a different firm. Well, that’s the case of the “Esky” which is in fact what Aussies call any cooler on the market. It turns out some even use it to commute, since the South Australia Police officers recently reported one riding a motorized cooler on the street.

The SA Police News recently announced that the “Police [is] not cool with esky riding”, since a 26-year old man from Para Hills West, a suburb of Adelaide, South Australia, has been reported for driving offenses after being spotted by police “riding” a motorized esky.

According to their post on Facebook, the officer was riding his motorcycle on patrol about 6:45 p.m. on January 5th when he saw the unusual vehicle being driven through a shopping center car park.

Wait, what? Is this April 1st? Nope, no Fool’s Day here, just facts.

So the officer approached the odd motorist (if we’re allowed to call him that) and warned him that the esky on wheels could not be legally driven on roads. Guess what, the man had a different opinion on the matter, since a little later the officer saw the funny guy riding the weird thing on Northcote Drive, Para Hills.

Not only did the man act quite foolish, but further checks showed that the driver didn’t even have a driver’s license. Now, get this “The esky is a novelty import and cannot be legally registered in South Australia and cannot be driven on roads - information which is clearly displayed on the esky.” In other words, you’re telling us that riding a cooler on wheels is not legal? Oh, no!

The weird rider was obviously reported for driving without a license and riding an unregistered/uninsured vehicle and will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

Oh, and the esky was also impounded.
