One Seattle man took the saying “use your head” a little too literally earlier this week: he dove through the window of a ride-share car with his head and then tried to steal the vehicle.
The incident happened as the ride-share car had stopped to pick up a passenger, KOMO News reports, citing Jonah Spangenthal-Lee of the Seattle police. Both the driver and the passenger were in the car when a man, whom the police are yet to identify publicly, dove head-first into the rear passenger window.
The impact was so powerful that he smashed the window and the passenger ran away scared through the other door. The driver also got out of the vehicle, in an attempt to confront the suspect. That’s when the man jumped into the driver’s seat and tried to drive off in the car.
“The suspect went around him and climbed into the driver’s seat of the still-running vehicle,” the report says. “The driver then grabbed the suspect’s arm through an open window, while a bystander ran up and grabbed the suspect’s other arm to keep him from putting the car into gear.”
“Officers arrived on scene, removed the suspect from the vehicle and took him into custody,” says the media outlet. “Police later booked him into the King County Jail for investigation of robbery and malicious mischief.”
First, the suspect made a stop by the hospital, where he received treatment for the cuts and bruises he had inflicted on himself by using his head as ramming tool.
This is the second violent, strange incident of similar nature happening in Seattle in as many weeks: last week, a man believed to be under the influence choked a stranger and then jumped on cars, damaging at least 5 of them. At one point, he ripped the sunroof of a Lyft car stopped in traffic and tried to use it as weapon to assault a parking officer with.
