The Google Maps “Your Timeline” feature is actually a pretty useful thing because it displays a history of all the places you’ve been to using the app for navigation.
But on the other hand, someone in India says the whole thing is actually leading to marriage problems because it displays incorrect information.
More specifically, a man called R. Chandrasekaran and living in Lal Bahadur Nagar in Mayiladuthurai, is ready to swear that the information Google Maps “Your Timeline” feature displays is not correct.
And he figured this out the hard way, as the man got in trouble with his wife when she checked his timeline to see where he’d been throughout the day. According to a report from News18, this is part of the couple’s daily routine, as the man always hands over the mobile device to his wife to check his timeline.
Leaving this little detail aside, it looks like the information displayed by Google Maps didn’t sit well with the man’s wife, so he’s now claiming that Your Timeline is actually wrong because it shows places he never visited. And to convince his wife this is really the case, he reached out to the police to file a complaint against Google, according to the said source.
“The app shows places on May 20 that's never been to. This is causing a lot of suspicion and confusion in the family,” the man is quoted as saying in the complaint.
Google itself explains in tech support documents that the location logged by the timeline feature could sometimes be inaccurate because of various reasons, such as poor GPS signal. However, users can manually edit their locations alone, and of course, something that this guy needs to know, to actually edit some visited places from showing up in the timeline.
Everyone else who isn’t afraid of getting in trouble with their significant others can check out their timeline on the web on this page.
