An Indiana petrol head with a great heart and a big desire to make vehicles move fast has turned a school bus into a jet powered beast that can travel up to 367 mph (590 km/h). He claims the bus is not only for car enthusiast’s amazement, but also to encourage kids to stay off drugs and turn their heads to the auto industry.
Man, we would’ve liked one of this petrol monsters to come and pick-up us up for school. Just imagine how cool this would be even now (no, we’re not in school anymore!). Unfortunately, the school bus in question only fits three passengers so hold your horses.

The spitting-fire machine is dubbed School Time and was created by Paul Stender and his build team who call themselves Indy Boys. “The entire vehicle was custom-built by myself because there’s no way the original bus could have withstood the speeds I take it to. A lot of it is hand-crafted and the types of metals used would be more at home on an aircraft,” its creator explained for Barcroft TV.

Powered by a thirsty jet fuel

This school bus monster is powered by an extremely thirsty GE J-79 engine whose gas tank can guzzle up to 150 gallons (567 liters) of fuel in just one ride. Those who have the chance to see it in action will also be greeted with 80 ft. (24.3 meters) flames that blast out the back from the afterburner.

We’ve seen plenty of crazy machines doing all sorts of extreme stuff, but you have to admit most of them should definitely stay far from children. Not this one though, sort of. Stender claims the bus is not just for the petrol show off, but it was also meant to breathe in some of the love for cars he has into young future petrol heads.

It’s important for them to have active hobbies and creative interests to keep busy and keep away from bad influences. That is why we wrote our motto on the side of the bus: Jets are ho - drugs are not,” he explained.
