Mammoth 1000 Is Hennessey’s Take on the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX, Boasts 1,012 HP

Before taking a healthy dose of Hennessey’s aftermarket steroids, Mammoth 1000 was an undistinguished MY ‘21 1500 TRX. Don’t get me wrong, the beloved pickup is an absolute marvel straight off th production line!

When “making fast cars faster since 1991” is your chosen motto, you better have an impressive portfolio to support that claim, and the pros over at Hennessey Performance have plenty of remarkable undertakings that demonstrate their graceful abilities. In the past, a few of this tuner’s most notable ventures have adorned the autoevolution pages with their might, including a supercharged Ford F-150 Platinum (dubbed Venom 800) and a brutal GMC Sierra AT4 with 700 ponies on tap.

All things considered, there’s some serious talent at work on this Texas-based firm’s premises, so it’s no wonder Hennessey’s specialists earned their rightful place at the very top of Uncle Sam’s aftermarket food chain. Not only will their tuning treatment bless your ride with a healthy dose of additional oomph, it’ll also bring about a menacing aesthetic that’ll let everyone know they’re not dealing with a stock vehicle.

I’ll tell you what; let’s dive in for a closer look at one of the juiciest custom pickups brewed under this company’s roof, shall we? The masterpiece in question goes by the name of Mammoth 1000 – a Ram 1500 TRX that appears to have been hitting the horsepower gym for some time now. To give you a better idea as to how far this project has come, we’ll kick things off by examining the standard truck’s main specs and features.

A 2021 model from the ominous Ram 1500 TRX lineup is put in motion by a cruel 6.2-liter supercharged V8 colossus that’ll be more than happy to deliver as much as 702 hp at 6,100 rpm. On the other hand, the intercooled behemoth is fully capable of summoning up to 650 pound-feet (881 Nm) of ruthless torque at around 4,800 revs.

This vicious force is distributed to all four wheels by means of an eight-speed automatic transmission, enabling the four-wheeled beast to accelerate 0-60 mph (0-96 kph) in just 4.5 seconds, while its top speed is generously rated at 118 mph (190 kph). Without going into any other technical details, we can probably all agree this bad boy is a genuine showstopper!

Although an original TRX is pretty damn rad straight out of the box, Hennessey’s Mammoth 1000 dials everything to eleven. For starters, the tuner fiddled with the creature’s suspension settings to obtain an extra 2.5 inches (64 mm) of ground clearance. The factory hoops have been discarded to make room for the aftermarket artists’ very own 20-inch ten-spoke counterparts, hugged tightly by off-road rubber for good measure.

The new shoes are appropriately complemented by an assortment of bodywork tweaks that do a neat job at looking the business, such as a chunky ram bar and a muscular bumper wearing auxiliary LED lighting modules at the front, joined by a malicious rear bumper on the opposite end. To round out the visual modifications, Hennessey went about adding electronic fold-out steps, as well as their iconic badges on the Mammoth’s windshield, doors and front bumper.

Now, that’s cool and all, but the engine bay is where the real party’s at. Besides a fresh 2.65-liter supercharger unit, you will also find upgraded pulleys, high-flow fuel injectors and a custom air induction system. Furthermore, a stainless-steel exhaust equipped with top-shelf catalytic converters allows the engine to breathe with ease.

This whole shebang increases the mill’s output figures all the way up to 1,012 wild horses and 969 pound-feet (1,313 Nm) of feral twist, which is truly staggering, to say the least! Ultimately, the pickup’s 0-60 mph (0-96 kph) acceleration time dropped to a remarkable 3.2 seconds, while its quarter-mile time sits at no more than 11.4 seconds.

To top it all off, Hennessey’s package comes with a two-year (or 24,000-mile) warranty. Mammoth 1000 will be subjected to a limited production run of 200 units and each copy will be priced at a hefty $135,350. To be quite frank, this beauty will leave you wanting for nothing.
