Mallya Disappointed with China Failure

The recent Chinese Grand Prix marked a double failure for Force India Mercedes, a team that had set a bold goal of becoming the fifth best team in the 2010 Formula One championship. On the one hand, Vijay Mallya's team failed to score a single point at Shanghai, while on the other rivals Renault have put points up on the scoreboard through both its drivers.

Robert Kubica and Vitaly Petrov – finally ending his point drought in the series – ended the Chinese GP in 5th and 7th respectively, while Adrian Sutil and Vitantonio Liuzzi (Force India teammate) had to settle for 11th place and a DNF in the first lap respectively. Given that the Indian outfit had succeeded in scoring points in each race until China, Mallya could not hide his disappointment over the “dry” weekend.

It is disappointing to see our run of points end and not to have been able to make more of these conditions, but that's sometimes what happens - it can become a bit of a lottery,” said Mallya regarding his team's performance at the Shanghai circuit.

Additionally, he acknowledged the fact that his team now has to work even harder to challenge Renault for the 5th place overall, as the French team is now 28 points ahead of Force India after 4 races. Of course, the Indian billionaire's hopes are based on the updates Force India will debut in Spain – which marks the beginning of the European season of F1 – much like the other teams preparing for Barcelona.

We've got some work to do now that Renault has opened up a sizable advantage. However, we have some developments in the pipeline and the season has a long way to run. We'll regroup and come back strongly in Spain, I'm sure,” added the Force India co-owner.
