Last week we were stunned by the looks of Triumph’s new Bobber. The motorcycle maker nailed it with its retro and simple design, but if you already have a Triumph cruiser, you can turn it into a bobber thanks to a kit from British Customs.
British Customs’ Weekend Project packages just gained a new entry that will enable Triumph Speedmaster owners to turn their stock motorcycles into bobbers in a matter of days.
“The Triumph Bonneville Bobber is a beautiful modern interpretation of the iconic bobber style with its retro-inspired detailing including the seat pan, rear mudguard loop, drum brake-inspired rear wheel hub, ignition barrel, and "slash-cut" exhaust," explains British Customs, Southern California-based lifestyle brand, and designer of aftermarket motorcycle parts. “While original within its own right for having custom looks off the showroom floor, the Bonneville Bobber openly rejects the true spirit and heritage of bobber motorcycles.”
To show off their new addition, British Customs built this custom bobber out of a Speedmaster in collaboration with skateboard legend and bike enthusiast Tony Hawk.
The standard bike got stripped off of unnecessary accessories and gained new, simple, retro-inspired parts to turn it into a 40s-style bobber. First, the stock seat was replaced with a low profile one featuring Hybrid Gel Technology for more comfort.
Next, the bars were replaced by higher ape hangers, while the wheels got swapped for bobber-style rims. The exhaust was upgraded with a full performance pack, the airbox has been deleted, while the Dynojet Power Commander V was thrown in to aid with more power.
British Custom’s new bobber was also made to help raise awareness and donations for The Tony Hawk Foundation, which aims to build communities through creating skateparks in low-income areas.
Whatever style you choose to build you ride, the Weekend Projects kits offer a wide range of options including seats, relocation kits, handlebars, foot pegs, gauge brackets, sprocket covers, chains, wheel conversion kits, lights, exhausts, air box removal kits as well as air injection removal kits.
