Make Your Own Toyota FJ Cruiser... Out of Paper

Folding paper to create models or just entertain yourself dates back to at least the Chinese Sung Dynasty (906-1125 CE) but there were found traces that this form of art was pretty widespread across the whole Europe. It has a few branches, including origami (based on folding paper), kirigami (folding paper, glue and cutouts) and pepakura (which combines everything to create complex structures).

However, with the modern era after printing had been invented, card modeling appeared and this got popular later after the Internet grew and enabled people to create and spread their printable blueprints more easily.

You just have to google a car’s name with “paper model” attached to it and you’ll find dozens of results. However, today we’ll spare you with the search and present this good looking Toyota FJ Cruiser which you can start building right now if you have a printer around.

Actually it’s the Maxtrax FJ Cruiser, which looks kinda cooler with that black and orange theme. In case you haven’t heard of it, Maxtrax is an Australian firm making vehicle extraction devices. It sounds complex but they are just some injection moulded polymer planks with pointy extrusions and they are used to offer your vehicle extra adherence when you’re stuck in sand, snow or mud.

So, if you’re bored and want to test your manual labor skills, check the download link here and prepare your scalpel. You can also check the video to see how to fold it up.
