The Internet is full of tips and ideas of how best to get out of a traffic ticket – some good, some bad. While a polite attitude and a low-cut shirt (for you ladies) definitely won’t hurt, an 84-year-old driver in Kennebunk, ME may have come up with the most surefire way of getting an officer to let you off with just a warning.
According to a news report from WMTW, Gavin "Scotty" Falconer and his wife were headed to get some ice cream last Saturday when he was pulled over for speeding in a 25-mph zone. After showing his license and registration to the police officer, the report says that he slumped over the steering wheel, and he was unconscious with no breathing or pulse.
Fortunately, the officer was quick to react and started performing CPR, but Mr. Falconer wasn’t brought back to life until he was resuscitated with a defibrillator. After waking up in the hospital, the man’s wife informed him that he still ended up getting a ticket, but it turns out it was just a warning.
While the medical bills will surely outweigh any fines he would have gotten from speeding, we’ll chalk this up as a guaranteed way to get out of a ticket. All kidding aside, Mr. Falconer is recovering well and, as you can tell in the video, he has such a good attitude about the ordeal.
As for the speeding, Mr. Falconer admits to having a heavy foot but says “I’m not a careless driver.”
