Maico Plans New Streetfighter Motorcycles

England-based manufacturer Maico International revealed recently hat design plans and development are already underway for a British, handmade road-going street fighter motorcycle, while fastly approaching the release of the 2011 Maico M.M.X. off-road models.

The new line of bikes designed for street use is reportedly scheduled to be unveiled sometime next year. Despite the low amount of information at this point, we can at least tell you that there will be two models, both using newly designed British-made power units.

“Although information on the Maico road-going motorcycle is limited at the moment, the all alloy frame is set to enter the sportbike fraternity with styling and performance. Maico plans to utilize newly designed British-made power-plants for not one but two planned motorcycle models,” a company statement reads.

The company says it is ready for the fierce competition already present in the industry. Taking on some well established names in the field, Maico International are also aware of the mantle that the new motorcycles will be expected to live-up-to and are confident that they will provide competitive motorcycles both in performance and cost.

"The only information we are prepared to release at the moment is that the bike will feature a stunning new British hand made alloy frame, swingarm and subframe and the initial indications are that the power to weight ratio is quite frankly staggering,"
stated a spokesman for Maico International, refraining from giving any extra details over the potential of the new motorcycles.

For 2011, Maico International will be unleashing a range of five new two-stroke motorcycle engines in 250cc, 320cc, 380cc, 500cc and 700cc capacities. Claimed output for the 250 is expected to top 50 horsepower, and 700cc will be looking at nearly 100 horsepower.
