We've been following this all-Indian project for quite some time now. Long story short, Mahindra&Mahindra is working on a new budget car model that would fit into the sub 4 meter segment, but instead of starting from scratch they used an existing chassis.
As you've probably noticed, it's the first-generation Dacia Logan they got from Renault a while back. Because they didn't have access to the already shortened Dacia Sandero hatchback, they chopped the sedan's boot off and added what look like bumpers and lights borrowed from the previous Ford Fiesta.

Thanks to a tip we received from Indian Autos Blog, we can show you what the car looks like without any camouflage, before it's actually been launched. To hide the horror, they gave it a snazzy Arctic Blue paintjob, dipped the exhaust in chrome, painted the mirrors and handles, added roof rails and some tiny alloy wheels.

Other strange features include a very sloped rear window, large but thin headrests, a boot lock placed at the bottom right and roof rails that probably don't do anything other. In the end, it's just a budget car, and we can't blame the Indians for trying to pinch the pennies… or rupees.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
