Indian carmaker Mahindra recently launched this version of the Renault’s Dacia Logan, redesigned for the Indian market. But Mahindra’s portfolio also includes a company called Reva Electric, which makes small EVs. Combine the two, and you get an Indian Dacia Logan electric car that’s supposedly coming in two years.
According to a report from Hindustan Times, the car will have a lithium-ion battery pack, one that’s already in use in cars like the Reva-i and Reva NXR. An electric motor will also replace the Verito’s current 1.4-liter petrol and 1.5-liter diesel. Besides the sedan, there will also be an electric pickup, which should look familiar to Renault and Dacia fans.
The Indian market has been increasingly focused on fuel economy, and diesel car sales have seen a recent boom. But can India’s, with its frequent power black-outs, support EV infrastructure?
