The 2014 New Delhi Auto Expo just opened its doors yesterday, and automakers from all over India and beyond are revealing ever more interesting and bold cars. Most are little SUVs, since that seems to be what the local market wants and needs, but Mahindra thought a sportscar of sorts would be in order.
Putting the money spent into the acquisition of the REVA Electric Vehicles company, the Halo Concept is a sportscar that runs purely on electricity. The motor in this car produces 105 kW or about 140 horsepower and can push the car from 0 to 100 km/h in 8 seconds with a top speed of 160 km/h, due to a single-speed gearbox.
Viewed from the side, the Halo looks like a cross between the Toyobaru and an Aston Martin at the back, but shrunk into a really small chassis. Inside, the concept has a nice Lambo e-gear style set of buttons, a huge tablet covering the dash and a sporty flat-bottomed steering wheel placed over a digital set of clocks, similar to the Alfa 4C.
Here comes the interesting part, according to MotorBeam India, who we have to thank for these live photos, the Halo will go into production in early 2016.
