We all know Magnus Walker is one of the most avid and unconventional Porsche collectors in the world. With such a status, the man doesn’t baby his retro Zuffenhausen machines, but there are certain times when that might be a good idea.
Earlier this week, Walker crashed his famous 277 911t in Minneapolis, but the accident was more than just your average fender bender.
The collector was attending a larger automotive event, with Star Tribune reporter Vineeta Sawkar riding shotgun to grab some footage at the time of the crash.
By the looks of it, Walker carried a bit too much speed for the rear-heavy 911 into a corner. The car appears to have experienced the retro-911 kind of lift-off oversteer as the driver backed off the throttle coming out of the corner.
The driver did catch the slide, but that nasty pendulum effect determined the car to keep swaying from one side to another. In the process, the 911 almost hit an uber-expensive Mercedes-Benz SL Pagoda - what could’ve been a nasty crash turned into what seems a small hit, judging by the soundtrack of the video below.
Unfortunately, Walker ended up spinning into a Porsche-branded semi-trailer parked on the side of the road. Fortunately, the senior sportscar had killed most of its speed by then. The driver’s door hit the trailer, but the collector was OK.
“Grateful I was able to walk away from this Porsche crash with bumps, bruises and no one else was hurt,” the reporter riding shotgun wrote after the accident.
Porsche such as this one need to be treated with respect, and while their snappy character is what makes them unique, this can bite back.
