Details regarding Magellan Maestro Elite 4379 were officially published on the official website of the GPS manufacturer today but where removed soon after that, leading us to believe that Magellan intends to postpone the launch of the device initially set for August. However, several online retailers are already accepting pre-orders for Maestro Elite 4379 although there's no word regarding its launch date.

The new Magellan GPS device will feature a 4.3-inch wide-screen, anti-glare touchscreen as well as an ultra-thin and stylish design inspired by the Maestro 4300 series. Unlike the other GPS units included in this series, the Maestro Elite 4379 incorporates an FM transmitter, a media player, a live traffic function and fully functional voice support.

The media player supports MP3s and several other audio and video formats just like a stand-alone media gadget. Moreover, it comes with Bluetooth features that enable the driver to pair the GPS unit with the Bluetooth-compatible mobile phone and talk on the phone while keeping the hands on the steering wheel.

The GPS features include 3D landmarks, 3D buildings and the so-called Pedestrian Mode, which lets you use the gadget even in areas where driving a car is impossible. Magellan said that 4379's battery can last for no less than 4 hours if used continuously but with the lowest screen brightness level.

Although it's not yet confirmed, the price of the whole package is expected to hover around 700 bucks, similar to the other models included in the 4300 series. And speaking of the whole package, it also includes a receiver cradle, a windshield mounting system, a cigarette lighter adapter, a USB cable, a protective pouch and the mandatory quick start guide and user manual.
