After you've spent a few years building a drivable Mad Max Furry Road tribute, when is the best time to introduce your ride to the world? As the owner of this Mad Maxed Toyota Celica explains, now that the motion picture has dominated the Academy Award night with no less than six Oscars, it's probably a good moment to step out of the garage.
This 1977 Celica is the kind of down-to-earth project that can easily dismiss the sort of excuses that keep many aficionados from DIY-ing their dreams.

We're talking about a moderate approach, one that hasn't swallowed a ton of cash to reach the point where it generates more smiles per minute than just about anything else money can buy or build.

The 1UZFe Toyota V8 under the hood comes from a Lexus SC400, having been gifted with an Eaton M112 supercharger, while the W58 tranny comes from a Supra. This is one immense Toyota jigsaw puzzle, with an important part of the suspension being borrowed from the AE86. The driveshaft does come from the original car, though.

"My goal was to build a 'fun' daily driver," the owner said.

"I am by no means a professional, I have very little experience when it comes to modifying cars. This will probably be the first and last major project I do in my life. Since this build has started I have learned a lot of basic mechanical knowledge, how things work, what does what. I just started welding last year and its been really fun. I guess you can call me an internet/youtube mechanic. I'm really open to all suggestions that will help me further my project and my skills," he explained.

Truth be told, the guy doesn't just daily drive his badass vee eight. As the driver explains on Reddit, he also goes canyon carving and also indulges in autocross action. Luckily, he has enough gas for all that.

P.S.: We heard Death Proof references were also thrown in, but we'll play the Easter Egg game here.
