Simply assembling a car is no longer enough for car manufacturers, just as for customers buying a car that looks like a thousand other is no longer appealing. This is why most high-end carmakers have created specialized divisions meant to come up with unique variants of series production cars.
For Porsche, this division is called Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur and its latest project is the Volcano Grey Macan S, an SUV subtly tweaked to become a horrifying sight on Europe’s roads.
Starting from a regular Macan S and without tampering with the car’s technical specs, Porsche added to the vehicle just enough elements to both make it appealing for pretentious buyers and advertise the list of available optional equipment.
At the exterior, the SUV is wrapped in the SportDesign package that comes with unique front, side and rear upgrades, some borrowed from motorsport and all finished in the color of the car. Even the wheels, in this case a new 20 inch Macan Turbo set, come with fully lacquered spokes that match the vehicle.
At the interior, a blend of bi-color leather equipment and wood make for a very warm environment. The seat consoles, the steering column and the edging around floor mats are dressed in leather, while the decor strips on the instrument panel and door trim come in chestnut wood mixed with small pieces of metal.
As said, performance wise there have been no modifications made, but the car does at least sound as it has been tampered with. That’s thanks to Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur fitting onto the Macan an optional sports exhaust system that puts out a unique sound, and is controlled via a button on the instrument panel in the center console.
Other than that, the Macan S uses the regular 354 ps engine that can push it to a top speed of 254 kph (158 mph) and provide it with a naught to 62 mph acceleration of 5.1 seconds.
Because the Volcano Grey Macan S is just one of the possible configurations customers can select from Exclusive Manufaktur, no pricing for the model was announced.
