It’s getting more and more obvious that the new M3 and M4 models were developed with track performance in mind. Another valuable clue is the fact that they will be leaving the assembly lines with M Laptimers as standard.
Up until now, the M Laptimer was an app destined exclusively to smartphones and smartphone integration with the car’s iDrive system. Apparently, from now on, the M3 and M4 will have this app installed in the iDrive menu, being able to use it whenever they like, without depending on a smartphone.
In case you didn’t know exactly what this app does, you’ll be happy to know that it’s capable of recording the car’s speed, longitudinal and lateral acceleration, engine revs, the gear engaged, steering angle, accelerator position and fuel consumption.
On these models, the info will also be displayed on the new head-up display and will have additional functions such as a gear display, rev counter and Optimum Shift Indicator.
