A recent study by Phoenix Marketing International has revealed that luxury SUV buyers and non-luxury car shoppers are most likely to consider acquiring alternative fuel vehicles (AFV) such as EVs, hybrids, hydrogen-powered or CNG-powered automobiles.
According to the survey, about 50 percent of car buyers are neutral to alternative fuel vehicles, while luxury SUV and non-luxury car consumers returned the highest percentages of drivers that are “very” or “extremely” likely to purchase an AFV, at 35.8 percent and 35.7 percent, respectively.

On the other hand, truck buyers are the most averse to alternative fuel vehicles, with 19.8 percent "very" or "extremely" unlikely to consider a vehicle that runs on anything else but gasoline for purchase. What's more, only 25.7 percent of pickup truck consumers are inclined to consider an AFV, a figure lower than consumers in all other categories but one.

Earlier this month, a different study revealed that most car buyers in the United States are unaware of the financial rebates and incentives offered by state and local governments when buying an electric vehicle.
