Luxury Ship Le Commandant Charcot Leads You on the Ultimate Polar Expedition

Many of us have wondered how it would be like to follow the path of history’s greatest explorers and actually travel to the North Pole or the South Pole. But that looks like one difficult journey, only meant for the bravest. That is, unless you let a luxury boat take you there and experience the polar regions in supreme comfort.

Some people dream about luxurious cruises, others are bored with typical destinations and would prefer to go for something truly remarkable. Now, there’s a way to enjoy both of these experiences. Le Commandant Charcot is ready to take its first passengers on a polar expedition tailored for even the most sophisticated tastes.

Built by the French cruise line PONANT in their Norway shipyard, Le Commandant Charcot is 492 ft (120 meters) long and 91 ft (28 meters) wide. All of its 135 suites and cabins have an exquisite design and deluxe features, such as wide, private terraces, while the duplex suites also have Jacuzzis.

And, if you’re one of the lucky guests on board, you can also enjoy a variety of sumptuous common areas, like the winter garden, 2 restaurants, one of which has a panoramic view, and the interior pool. Or, you can take advantage of the wellness area and indulge at the spa, in the sauna or at the fitness room. After all, what could be better than that after going out in the polar regions and exploring the surroundings? A team of professional guides is there to lead the expeditions and teach the guests more about these unique places.

This cruise ship also features a unique Observatory Parlor, where specialists in the North and South Pole will hold insightful conferences on historical, geological and biological themes related to the Poles.

And, if you’re not already blown away by the idea of a luxury cruise ship for polar expeditions, there’s even more good news about Le Commandant Charcot. This is actually the first vessel of its kind to be electric and LNG- (liquefied natural gas) powered, which means it’s better for the environment.

With a 34 MW electric motor, Le Commandant Charcot can reach a speed of 15 knots, with zero smoke and soot emissions.
