In between putting out music albums, producing other artists’ work, signing off on merchandise and acting jobs, Ludacris has amassed an estimated $25 million. With this kind of money, he could have and drive any car in the world.
And he does just that: based on his social media posts alone, Ludacris’ garage is a wonderful place for any speed enthusiast, with anything from exotics to fast motorcycles and more... leisurely vehicles like ATVs. That said, his first and biggest love remains a 1993 Acura Legend.
This Acura is so famous that it’s actually referred to as the Ludacris Legend. It’s been in the rapper’s possession since 1999, having bought it right before he shot to international fame. He’s been keeping it as a reminder of where he started out, as a means to ground himself in every-day reality.
It’s not just that, though. Ludacris isn’t keeping the Legend in the garage as a show piece, as you might be tempted to believe. Because even some of his fans have trouble believing that Ludacris, world-famous rapper and actor, drives an Acura Legend, he posted the video below to his Instagram earlier this week.
It offers a mini-tour of the car, with Luda highlighting the fact that it has over 255,000 miles on the clock. This Legend may be a lot of things, but a show piece it is not.
While this is Ludacris’ first car, it’s been restored and upgraded in the years it’s been in his garage. Acura Design studio did a complete overhaul on it before SEMA 2015, after it was involved in an accident. It got new 18-inch wheels and improved brakes and suspension, a custom Warm Cashmere with Ice Pearl paint job, and a new Pioneer AVIC 8/ONEX sound system with two Alpine Type-12 subwoofer speakers in the trunk.
As Ludacris says in the video below, these days, the Legend is in need of a good wash. But that in itself is proof that he’s been regularly driving it – and loving it.
