Ludacris Gave Away 20 Cars

The Ludacris Foundation, belonging to the namesake American rapper, together with a car dealership from Atlanta set up a contest in order to give away 20 vehicles for those who were having troubles keeping their jobs due to matters of transportation. Moreover, each of the used vehicles included free gas for 30 days.

The Grammy-winning singer had to read about 4,000 essays in which contestants explained why they deserved a car. Winning entrants had to be 18-year-old or more, have a valid driver’s license and no current car. The recipients were also responsible for tags, registration, tax and insurance.

“People are getting laid off, and now are looking for jobs,”
Ludacris was quoted as saying by the AP via celebitchy.com. “To be efficient, you need some transportation of your own to get there. That’s why I wanted to give back to those who need it.”

The 31-year-old rapper stated that the story that impressed him the most was that of Mading Duor. “He’s endured so much in his life and he’s still here standing. I’m very proud to have helped him.,” he said.

In his essay, Duor, 33, described how he moved to the United States six years ago after his mother, father, and five brothers and sisters were killed in Sudan. Moreover, according to the aforementioned source, his son was killed by a drunken driver in Atlanta a few years ago.

Duor finally managed to get a job at a school, but he was having troubles getting to work. Not anymore, thanks to Ludacris. “I’m so happy, that I’m nervous,” said Duor, who won a Nissan Maxima. “When I look at my new car, I say to myself, ‘Is this really happening?’”
