LT1-Powered 1936 Ford Club Restomod Is a Barn Find Turned Street Rod

Whether they end up restored to their original specifications or rebuilt as something a little more exclusive, barn finds are always exciting to check out. This one started life as a 1936 Ford Club Cabriolet (that’s pre-WW2) before somebody eventually gave up on it.

Luckily, the car was pulled out of a barn roughly ten years ago and rebuilt into a genuine street rod, featuring Corvette power, along with countless other modifications. This is the third time it’s been on sale since the rebuild, and the asking price according to the eBay ad is $69,500.

What you get in return for that sum is a BMW Chiaretto Red exterior, lowered stance, new floors, custom stainless-steel exhaust system with Magnaflow mufflers, Jaguar disc brakes, power steering rack and differentials, and 17-inch chrome five spoke wheels. 1937 Lincoln Zephyr taillights, custom billet front grille, 37 Ford headlights with integral parking lights, twin exterior mirrors and, of course, the custom tonneau cover, are also part of the package.

Moving on to the interior, we see wool carpeting, leather seats with matching door panels, and custom gauges within the body-colored dashboard. Those are in addition to amenities such as air conditioning, power windows, power seats, seatbelts for four, and a phone-controlled sound system positioned under the rear seat, which is also where you’ll find the battery.

As for what lies underneath the hood, that would be a fuel-injected LT1 Corvette engine, mated to a 4L60E four-speed automatic. We should also mention the heavy-duty Champion aluminum radiator and custom header tank, but most of all, the custom Jaguar front and rear independent suspension, which is said to provide this 1936 Ford with a far superior ride in terms of refinement and handling.

Now, while we wouldn’t expect this car to feel particularly engaging to drive on a winding road, it most definitely shouldn’t be a snooze fest either - that suspension setup, together with the lowered stance, should see to that.
